St. Paul School had “Crazy Sock Day” where students were able to wear a pair of crazy socks with their uniform and in return donated a pair of socks to Kelsey’s Christmas. Over 600 pairs of socks were donated and will be handed out to patients admitted at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
St. Paul School did a food collection the week before Thanksgiving to help the Community Bread Basket. The school was able to bring in over 2,100 pounds of food in just 5 days to help restock their shelves. Congratulations to sixth grader, Olivia Shafer, who won first place in the annual Gettysburg Address Contest held at the Brooke County Courthouse. The bust of Abraham Lincoln will remain at the school until next year’s contest.
Congratulations to Tommy Charnie, seventh-grade student, who was selected as the statewide winner of the 2016-2017 West Virginia Municipal League “If I Were Mayor, I Would…” essay contest. He was recognized by Weirton Mayor Harold Miller. Tommy received a plaque and $250 for winning the contest.
