Fourth Grade Overview

Welcome to the fourth grade at St. Paul School!  My goal in this class is to help each of my students reach his or her fullest potential and to instill in them a love for learning!

We have a rigorous curriculum in the fourth grade that promotes personal growth, critical thinking, comprehension skills and problem-solving.  In addition to our daily course work, students will be expected to complete one project each nine weeks. Each year, fourth graders look forward to building a working model of a volcano, completing a bottle biography, and participating in the 50 States postcard race.

Character education is an important part of my classroom.  I strive to promote values such as respect, acceptance, compassion, and kindness.  Together, we will read the novel Wonder by R. J. Palacio, which explores each of these themes in depth.  Students will discuss ways to better our classroom, school, and community and learn to see the value in themselves and in others.

Each year, the fourth grade visits Meadowcroft Village and Rock Shelter to get a glimpse of past history and tours the City of Weirton Municipal Building to learn about local government.
