here for elementary school, Madonna high school, and Geneva College. I have a degree in Elementary and Special Education.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Stephen. We have 1 gorgeous daughter, Claire. We also have our crazy and adorable dog, Zuko.
My title is the resource teacher at St. Paul school. I take students from all grades and work on skills their teachers are seeing that they may be lacking in or need more help in something they do not have time to do in the classroom. I create specialized activities for small groups in each class based on testing I have given from reading and math inventories, NWEA testing, and
teacher recommendations. These range from simple things such as phonics and letter sound correspondence to comprehension strategies for long passages, or simple addition and subtraction to multiplying fractions.
I also help create service plans for students with diagnoses. I consult with teachers on strategies, accommodations, and modifications that will work best for students that may be struggling and/or have a diagnosis such as ADHD or a learning disability. I also work on goal setting for the students in tandem with their teachers to help them achieve success.
My room is a space where students who need accommodations such as quiet or extra time on assessments can go and work. It is also a space to de-escalate or calm down if someone is having a hard day.
I give resources like articles and studies to teachers about what they are seeing in their classrooms to help them work with their students in the general education setting.
I have degrees and general and special education and I am certified in both in WV.
